The popular food store has operated under CITC for over 10 years, and this year the
managing team decided it was time for a fresh new look.
Oasis Energy manager Louisa Poila said the company had been wanting to upgrade the store
for some time, but a few interruptions slowed the process down.
“But we got there in the end and we were able to make the changes and renovations to the
store.”
Poila said the store renovations took just over two months and CITC was pleased with the
results.
“It basically looks like a whole new store. “It has got bigger, better and brighter,” she said.
Poila said the store now had a much bigger refrigeration and freezer capacity.
“We have stand-up freezers, which are new for us and now we have more room for frozen
goods.”
The shop now has a bigger storage area as well as more space for the food shelves.
“We have been able to bring more stock in because we have a lot more room and shelving.
“One of our changes is the layout of our shelving so we are able to fit more stock in and there
is more room for our staff to move around and to do displays.”
The store’s new ice-cream parlour has been a real hit with both locals and tourists.
“Our other store, CITC Kavera, has an ice-cream parlour, and we thought it would be good to
have one here, as it gives customers more ice-cream flavours to choose from, said Poila.
The ice-cream parlour is open from 10am – 6pm, but the hours are sometimes extended if
people still want ice-creams in the evenings.
“On a Sunday, people will cruise around the island and stop for their Sunday treat. Usually
they get an ice-cream, so we want to cater to these people,” Poila said.
She has been managing Oasis Energy Centre for nine years, and has noticed a significant
increase in customers since the revamp.
“We have had people come in all the way from the other side of the island to visit and buy
from our store or just see the new changes.
“We can tell that a lot of customers enjoy the feeling when they come into the store, because
it is like walking into a shop in New Zealand or Australia,” she said.
Poila has faced some challenges in her role at the Oasis Energy Centre, but readily
acknowledges that the challenges motivate her.
“Working with the team we have here is really good and we all work well together.”
The Oasis Energy Centre is located on the main road in Nikao and is open 24 hours.
